Since its creation, the “Ateliê de Teatro” project has served young people with autism and psychotics and their families, with the participation of workshop staff from the School of Theater (UNIRIO) and clinicians from the School of Psychology (UFRJ). The work is characterized as a space for living, and touches the field of dance, movement and therapy. Its methodology is based on the work with objects, on musical awareness, on inclusion in the environment and on the creation of small scenes, or theatrical events. Its results include research and knowledge production in arts / special education, enabling the access of performing and psychotic young people to Performing Arts. It proposes an interface between the areas of Arts and Health, stimulating new areas of dialogue in theatrical teaching and intervention in non-formal teaching spaces.
